Online moving quotes explained

Everyone knows that getting a moving quote before hiring movers is important. It tells you exactly how much your moving company bill is going to be. But a quote should not be mixed up with a moving estimate. We decided to explain everything you might not understand about online moving quotes.

Difference between a moving quote and a moving estimate explained

Getting a moving quote means that the company you’re hiring for your move is telling you exactly how much money your move is going to cost. And a moving estimate is an approximate price that may change depending on a lot of things. Let us explain this with an example.

The cost of an interstate or a long-distance move is determined by the weight of the shipment, the mileage between the origin and destination, and the labor costs. A moving company you’re thinking about hiring can estimate the cost of the move when you tell them all these pieces of information. The numbers don’t have to be exact, they can be approximate. When your movers get the exact numbers, they are going to give you a moving quote.

When do you get moving quotes?

If your move is a long-distance move, you’ll probably have to get an estimate. But if the move is local, your movers will be able to give you a moving quote. This is because it is much easier to determine the price of a local move because it is smaller and there are fewer chances of something happening that would slow down the relocation process. This is why we recommend doing getting online moving quotes from different moving companies and comparing these moving quotes to find out which one suits your budget the most.

Are free online moving quotes reliable?

Many people fear that online moving quotes aren’t reliable at all. This is also because plenty of fraudulent companies have appeared. They usually lure people into hiring them by giving amazing prices that are too good to pass out on. But there are plenty of reliable moving companies that offer free online moving quotes and estimates.

Thumbs up.
Getting an online moving quote is reliable if you’re getting a quotation from a reliable moving company.

How much is relocation going to cost me?

We already mentioned how the costs for long-distance moves are calculated but we didn’t mention the average price of a long-distance move. A long-distance move is going to cost you on average $2,400 – $5,000 depending on the size of the move and the distance. And if you are hiring professional movers for a local move, it will cost from $300 to $1,500 depending on the size of the move.
